As for Intel’s graphics cards, at the end of last year the company launched its Battlemage architecture, which is used in the Arc B570 and B580, but these are entry and mid-range cards that rival AMD’s RTX 4060 and RX 7600. What’s more, if high-end solutions were planned using this architecture, Intel would have cancelled its plans. So there should be no Arc B770 or B750 to come… Pity.
Battlemage’s top of the range cancelled?
Broadly speaking, we’ll have to trust what leaker @Jaykihn0 says on X. But according to him, Intel has cancelled its plans for high-end GPUs based on the Battlemage architecture. However, it seems that Intel had plans for chips with between 24 and 32 Xe2 cores, a 256-bit memory interface and 16GB of VRAM capacity. Compared with the BMG-G21, this represents a 20-60% increase in the number of execution units.
In short, the most worrying aspect of this story is that the leaker indicates that Intel has not given any sign of life to its future Celestial architecture either. And yet the latter seemed to be well on the way to being developed. There were even rumours that this generation might appear this year… But this bad news sows doubt.
Be that as it may, dark clouds are gathering over dedicated GPUs, while on the iGPU front, everything seems to be going according to plan. Celestial should indeed see the light of day in Panther Lake processors, which will benefit from 18A engraving.
What’s more, this cancellation may also be temporary, just look at what happened with Arrow Lake Refresh. Some time ago, we learned that Intel was not due to refresh its CPU series, but the Core Ultra 300s have recently been in the news. So, wait and see, as they say. In the meantime, if we don’t have more information on Druid and Celestial, it may be because development isn’t far enough along.
